The process of getting a dental crown traditionally takes a few weeks. It has to be made to match your teeth, then cemented into place, and aligned to fit just right in your mouth.
Thankfully, there’s a new technology available that allow you to get crowns in place during a single appointment. This same-day dental crown technology is called CEREC. We’re excited to offer this to our patients here at Ronald K. Rich, DDS, MAGD in Sugar Land, Texas.
But how does it work? And it is as reliable as the “old” method? Let’s take a look.
How does it work?
A CEREC machine does the same work that’d be done in a laboratory right in the dentist’s office. When you visit with a dentist for a crown consultation, you’ll have a scan done of your teeth. The machine is then set to making the crown while Dr. Ronald K. Rich prepares your tooth for the crown.
After that, you just smile and wave.
Do they last?
These crowns are made from the same material as one you’d have to wait weeks for. They’ll stand up to the abuse that we see on a regular basis. Ones made in a CEREC machine are just as reliable as you could hope for.
CEREC crowns are likely your best bet if you need crowns, and we recommend you consider them. To learn more or to schedule an appointment, call us today at 281-980-2537.
