You’ve probably been told that keeping your teeth clean is extremely important if you’re interested in avoiding cavities. Similarly, you may have been told that it’s important for you to have a filling placed as soon as you can. You see, if you postpone having a tooth filled, you could ultimately need to address issues like a damaged root canal. Still, once you’ve had a filling placed, there are several things we recommend you do.

For example, would you be surprised to hear that hot or cold foods could aggravate your filled tooth while it’s healing? You should also try to avoid chewing directly on the filled tooth while it heals. On a similar note, please don’t eat until all numbness you experience has worn off. If you don’t, you could accidentally bite your gum or your lips.

Of course, our team will also give you specific advice. However, we still recommend giving us a call if you’re worried about your filled tooth. For example, if your tooth cracks, is painful, or hurts when you bite down, please give us a call.
