Do you have tooth decay that needs to be repaired? Dr. Ronald K. Rich may recommend a dental filling in Sugar Land, Texas. Our dentist will remove the damaged part and then fill the area with the dental filling material.
How is a dental filling placed?
Our dentist will numb the area and then remove the decayed portion of the tooth. After probing the area to ensure that all of the decay has been removed, the area is cleaned of bacteria and debris. The composite dental filling is then placed in layers. As each layer is placed, it is cured with a special light. Once the layers are in place, our dentist will shape the material, trim off any excess, and polish the final dental filling.
How should I care for a tooth with a filling?
To care for your dental filling, practice proper oral hygiene. Brush at least twice a day, floss at least once a day, and visit our office twice a year for your routine checkup and cleaning. If Dr. Ronald K. Rich suspects that your filling is cracked or damaged in any way, he will take X-rays to examine the filling and tooth. A dental filling can be replaced or repaired if necessary.
